Day 29: What I am thankful for? My Bookend

Day 29: What I am thankful for? My Bookend

A bookend can be a noun and a verb, noun person, place or thing and a verb an action. A bookend  a support for the end of a row of books to keep them upright, is often one of a pair.

My bookend meets and exceeds this dictionary definition. My bookend and I are people who use actions to support one another so Lisa and Dianewe can handle our life celebrations and struggles and keep each other “upright.”  A phone call, an encouraging email, girl time, a lunch or dinner out, sometimes just coffee and something  that will only serve to make our butts bigger. The occasional shopping trip is always nice and it doesn’t matter if we come back with the tires touching the fenders or nothing at all it’s the fun we have together that we treasure.

My bookend and I are similar, however, different in a complementary way. We share our passionate love for our families, creativity,  laughter, tears, our love for coffee and most of all a honest and safe confidence of a true friend who knows everything about you and loves you all the same.

My bookend, Lisa, who knows the song in my heart and can has sung it back to me when I have forgotten the words.

I am very thankful to have a best friend, “a bookend” like Lisa to support me when I need it, tell me the truth even when it hurts, to talk and laugh with and to be “one of a pair.”
