March, NOT going out like a lamb and my favorite thing about spring...

Spring Snow Collage 2014

My favorite thing about spring is the renewal feeling. It inspires me to push forward. Shake off the cold winter and look forward to the crocus, daffodils and tulips breaking through the hard winter ground.

Temps are warming up so we can begin thinking about spending time outside. Freshening the flower beds with mulch. Watching the green grass takeover the ground like a blanket of fresh color. Trees bud with new life, preparing for spring blooms. The birds return in numbers to the backyard feeder. They tweet and nest and soon the ever so small voices of the hatchlings can be heard in the bird houses around the yard.

This spring will be extra special because here in Maryland, the calendar may say March 30th, but outside, Mother Nature is showing us winter weather. The snow has been falling since about 3 pm, Carroll Fire Wire  and Frederick Fire Wire  are sharing road closures, accidents and a few chimney fires throughout both counties. They recommend staying off the roads. This March isn’t going out like a lamb!

It’s hard to believe April is just over 24 hours away. The blanket of white is more reminiscent of January. The conditions outside are brutal and blizzard like. I’m confident, temps will warm-up soon, but for now, regardless of what the calendar says, it’s still winter in Maryland.

My favorite thing about spring? Knowing it will arrive, just not when we expect it.
