Wallpaper? Oh, that wallpaper!
When I first read Dick Greenberg's contest “Show us your wallpaper” my mind went directly to my childhood home. Mom and Dad built our home in Sykesville, MD in the 70’s. Wall paper was all the rage. Dad hung yards of it in different colors and patterns. Ivy pattern in the kitchen, blue flowers in the dining room, and no shortage of red white and blue early American “style” in the bedroom and bath. As much as I disliked the wallpaper choices, the warm memories of home, draped in moms touches of the time will always make me smile and feel grounded.
Today, I get the same grounded feeling from the wallpaper on my devices. The standard subject of my wallpaper is family, kids, dogs, the kids or dogs with our home or garden in the background. My current wallpaper is a rare shot of all three of my amazing children. All grown, all headed in different directions, all smiling back at me reminding me of that moment of laughter. I've been asking for a “nice” photo of the three of them and this is what I got. “Quick! Take the picture mom!” Claire, Mike and Cole. I am truly blessed.
Thanks Dick for the cool contest and the reminder, memories are precious.
