We’d like to take advantage of this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our accomplishments in the first quarter. The Shawn Martin Group is excited to share some highlights that helped us grow both in the community and within our business.

1st Quarter Highlights

Together with the excitement brought about by the start of the year, we made an effort to give back to the community as much as we could.

  • Community events. We hosted three successful events during the first quarter: a shredding event, an ice skating party, and a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association, where we raised over $3,500 for this important cause.
  • Helping families. We are also very thankful to have assisted 32 families reach their real estate goals, whether it was finding their dream home or moving on to the next chapter of their lives. It’s a great feeling to know that we played a part in these special moments.

Our Advantage in the Second Quarter

As we move into the second quarter, we are expecting some significant changes this mid-July. This is a result of the recent NAR lawsuit addressing buyer agent compensation and transparency.

Here in Maryland, only a few adjustments need to be made since we’ve already had buyer-broker agreements and negotiated compensation for the past eight years. This means our state is in a slightly better position compared to other states that are yet to undergo this transition.

Bonus Tip: Find the Right Listing Agent

Because of the recent industry changes, it is a good idea for sellers to choose the right listing agent. Some of the factors that you need to consider when looking for one are as follows:

  • Experience. Find someone who consistently lists multiple properties each month.
  • Full-time and full-service. They should be dedicated agents who will build a relationship with you and prioritize your needs and goals.
  • Knowledgeable of the market. They understand current market trends and have the ability to anticipate upcoming changes, like the one coming this July, to give you a competitive edge.

All of these factors are important because a well-connected agent who knows how to navigate the market and has a reliable network of agents can help you secure the best possible outcome for you. We will be talking about these industry changes more in the future, so stay tuned for that.
